Yayoi Kusama – Sam R

Yayoi Kusama was born March 22, 1929, but wasn’t really interested in art until around age 10 when she started using polka dots and nets as motifs to paint and also painted with watercolors, pastels, and oils.

 

 

 

 

 

After turning 28, Yayoi Kusama decided to come to the United States to show off her large paintings, soft sculptures, and environmental sculptures using mirrors and electric lights.Image result for Yayoi KusamaImage result for Yayoi Kusama

Later on in the 1960s, she staged body painting festivals, fashion shows, and anti-war demonstrations. She also launched media-related activities such as film production and newspaper publication. At the age of 44, she went back to Japan and continuing to produce and show art works,and also issued a number of novels and anthologies. This novel won the Tenth Literary Award for New Writers from the monthly magazine Yasei Jidai. At 57, Yayoi Kusama, held solo exhibitions at the Musee Municipal, Dole, and the Musee des Beaux-Arts de Calais, in France. Three years later she helf more solo exhibitions at the Center for International Contemporary Arts, New York and the Museum of Modern Art, Oxford, England.
